Avara Foods Lends Support to Newent's Onion Fayre
The Onion Fayre in Newent, which took place on Saturday, September 8th this year, was sponsored by Avara and drew a crowd of approximately 15,000-20,000 attendees. Since its revival in 1996, the Newent Onion Fayre has expanded to encompass the entire town center and park, featuring a variety of stalls, food vendors, and entertainment. The event offered a range of attractions for both locals and visitors, including the Food Village, the Funion Zone, the Onion Show, and the annual Onion Eating Competition. This year, a new record was set in the competition, with a participant consuming a 7oz onion in just 45 seconds, a full 30 seconds faster than the previous year. Congratulations to Avara's own Kevin Davies for his impressive performance. Numerous Avara employees attended the event, assisting with refreshments, operating the stalls, and organizing fun activities in the Funion Zone, with entertainment provided by Chicken Kev. Julian Culshaw, the Operations Manager at Avara Foods Newent Site, expressed his delight in sponsoring this unique local event, which he described as significant to the Newent community and a major annual attraction for the town. David Sass, the Event's Sponsorship and Promotions Manager, expressed his gratitude for our sponsorship and support for the 2018 Fayre, praising the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all in the Opening Parade and Onion Eating contest. He acknowledged the significant contribution made throughout the day. A big congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
