The Company anticipates a global goal and reaffirms its commitment to responsible practices

BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world and owner of the Sadia, Perdigão and Qualy brands, has completed the certification of 100% of its poultry and pork slaughter units globally, bringing forward the goal of adapting to international animal welfare protocols by one year. The milestone was achieved with the certification of operations in Turkey, which joined the Brazilian units, already certified since 2023.
The audits were carried out by specialists trained by the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAACO), following strict criteria established by the North American Meat Institute and the National Chicken Council of the United States.
"The achievement reflects BRF's continuous commitment to animal welfare practices, transparency and the search to offer quality and trust to customers and consumers in its markets," says Ivomar Oldoni, director of Agriculture at BRF.
In addition to animal welfare certification in all its slaughter plants, BRF has already fulfilled other significant commitments on the subject, such as eliminating the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in animal husbandry and the commitment to raise 100% of the birds in the integration system in Brazil and Turkey cage-free. Moreover, it started to exclusively use cage-free eggs in its industrial processes in Brazil, reinforcing its position as a reference in ethical and sustainable practices in the sector.
Recognition
A leader in the protein sector in animal welfare practices, BRF adopts a zero-tolerance policy for maltreatment and continuously invests in improving management, breeding and slaughter processes. These efforts have earned the company recognition in international rankings, such as the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW), which evaluates the companies' commitment to ethical and sustainable practices in the production chain.
In addition to animal welfare, BRF stands out on several fronts related to sustainability, including tackling climate change through the sustainable purchase of grains, the use of renewable energy and the promotion of low-carbon agribusiness. The company also prioritizes the use of energy from clean sources, adopts the circular economy with reverse logistics and packaging recycling initiatives, and maintains responsible supply chain management, with traceability and control of origin. In the social field, the BRF Institute has a strong presence in the communities in which the company is present, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility.
