I started working with commodities in 1997, since then I have been involved in many different areas of the business such as logistics, execution, trade finance, physical and futures trading for both raw and white sugar. During the first few years of my career, I have worked most of the time on the origination side of the business, but have also directly participated in promoting new business at destination markets in South America starting operations in countries like Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia. In 2007, I have joined Noble and after 2 years working with sugar procurement in Brazil, moving about 1 million metric tonnes per year, and helping to implement the base for the company's sugar research in the country, I was offered a position in Singapore. In August 2009, I moved out of Brazil to be part of the team responsible to start Noble's sugar desk in Singapore selling to the main Asian markets as well as coordinating the Thailand origination book. After about one year in Singapore, I have started focusing more on futures and options trading and actively participating on the division’s global proprietary position. I was also responsible to manage the hedges and pricing structures for our clients. In June 2011, I have spent 7 months living in Shanghai where my main goals were to start Noble's trading on the Chinese sugar futures market and develop a model to trade the arbitrage between the domestic and the World futures markets. At the time, I was also actively involved on the management of our physical sugar trading to China. In July 2013, Noble has invited me to be the head of the sugar division in Asia. On my current position, I manage an experienced team of traders based in offices in Singapore, Bangkok and Shanghai having responsibilities on physical trading, futures trading, arbitrage trading, stock management, logistics, risk management, research and other activities related to sugar trading.
